Tutors of 2023

Coming to the campus first time you’ll meet your tutor. Tutor works as your senior, who introduces you to the Finnish university life and culture. You can read Tutti’s tutors’ greetings from below:

Greetings from Board Members

There are a few elected students, board members, who represent Tutti ry. Board Members that are important to especially you as a new student pass their greetings on this section. Labour union TEK has their own student liaison, who strongly co-operates with the board of Tutti ry, and will also send their greetings.

Chair of the Board

Hello, new student!

Congratulations on starting your studies in Vaasa. My name is Roni Haakana and I am the chair of the board in Tutti ry. As your student organization, Tutti is here to make these few years as great as possible!

Our goal is to help you to get into Finnish student culture. First thing that you might see when starting your studies, that university students wear overalls when engaging in student activities. Tutti ry will provide the overalls to our members for free, So make sure to order them during autumn. Engineering students are also eligible to buy a symbol of technology studies, teekkari cap. This will be handed to you in 1st of May when you participate in an spectacle called teekkarikaste (Teekkari “baptism” in English).

We have our own living room in campus area which is called “tuttis”. It is the best way to meet new students and take a little breather between courses. I invite you to take a seat on our couches and have a cup of coffee. There are days where our members like to spend their whole evening in tuttis chatting with friends and I can recommend you try it as well.

Make sure to contact me or any of the board members if you have any questions. This is our passion and providing the best student experience is what we are here for!

See you in autumn!

Culture and Fresher Rep.

Hello my name is Juho Hakamäki and I am responsible for culture and freshmen of Tutti ry. This is my first year of being a member of the board at Tutti so I am very excited. I am now starting my third year at Vaasa studying Industrial Engineering and Management.

All kind of teekkari culture is close to my heart so it has been a pleasure to cherish and evolve the Vaasa style of that culture. I would like to courage each one of you to getting to know our culture and being a part of our unique community.

I hope to see all of you in our events and at the campus!

Rep. of Educational Affairs

Hi!

And welcome to the University of Vaasa. I am Lam Honn (Honn is my first name), the Representative of Educational Affairs in the Board of Tutti ry. I make sure that our students get good quality teaching and constantly try to improve the education in the School of Technology and Innovation.

I’ll be starting my 5th, and also my last year in automation and information technology. I still can remember the time I also was in your shoes - a new student without any experience, to whom everything was new and exciting. Now as an experienced student, I am more than happy to help my juniors anyway I can when it comes to studies or student life.

I recommend participating in any events and activities you just can. However, you are also more than welcome to create your own type of activities, so just get creative and gather people around and start doing things!

See you around!

TEK Student Liaison

Congratulations for your study place! You’ve made a good choice coming to Vaasa.

I’m Niklas Virtanen, a third year student of Industrial Engineering and Management from Technology side. I work as a student liaison for TEK, or the labour union for STEM field in Finland. This might sound very unfamiliar to you, but worry not! I will be introducing you to the labour union from the very beginning you start in our university.

A new chapter in your life is just beginning, so just hop on to student life without any worries. You’ll soon notice you’ve made precious memories and friends.

Once you get your overalls, you’ll soon notice that you might need a belt for them. The legendary TEK belt will connect you to a national network of technology industry, making you instantly recognised wherever you go. You’ll receive the belt as a gift once you join TEK, it’s free. By joining TEK you’ll ensure benefits for your future career, as we’ll assist you in your job hunting early in your studies already!

You can find me in TEKkis (or TEK-room) at the campus, in Tuttis, and in events. My signature feature is my bright smile. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you!
